Hi,

I am using AX 2012 R2 CU7.

I am created the alert for Vendor Group change and Customer Group change so that it should trigger back an email to me to notify if anyone does any changes.

I am not getting the email ONLY. I have cross checked, initially the batch job was showing any task executed. Later I am not sure what I changed, it started showing the task executed in the batch job. But in any case I am getting the email when I am changing the Vendor Group.

In order to double check, I followed the below blog to verify if there is any setup I am missing.

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/7097.e-mail-notifications-in-dynamics-ax-2012.aspx

Few finding are as below,

1. The moment I am changing the group, a record is being created in the table "EventCUD". I am not sure if my understanding is right or not, I was simply wondering for 2 column values,

Status:  Withold    &&  Batch-ID: {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

Are these values as expected values?

I am not sure in which direction to troubleshoot it further as I cant see any error anywhere.

Would appreciate for some help.

Sincerely,

Muneeb

    HI Muneeb,

"Withold" means that the batch is currently disabled. You can change the status to waiting. Then it will be picked up by the batch framework.

    Hi Andre

    Thank you so much.

"Withold" is the status of the record being added in the "EventCUD" table but the status of the batch is waiting only.

I could see that on changing the vendor group, the message is coming in the eventCUD table and it is disappearing as the batch got executed.

However, I am not receiving any emails after this too.

Now when I got to System Administration--> Periodics --> E-Mail Processing and then MANUALLY click on "Email Broadcast" and press "OK", after this I am receiving few emails but that too are not of the current changes i did to the vendors.

After looking at the backend for the menu item "Email Broadcast" it seems it is picking up the records from "SysUserInfo" table.

The place where I am troubleshooting for now is, can i get the those records which got created for the Vendors I am making the recent changes i.e. the records which are coming in the eventCUD and disappearing?

Just to provide little more information, everything was working fine few months back and all of sudden it stopped working without anyone did any changes.

Would appreciate if you can help me trouble shoot in the right direction as to me everything seems in place. But I am sure somewhere something is going wrong.

Thank you so much in advance.

    Sincerely,

    Muneeb

E-mails could be sent directly by connecting to your SMTP server from AX, in which case you could only get the sent/failed messages from your e-mail server logs. Other type of e-mails in AX are landing in the SysOutgoingEmailTable table, from which the E-mail distributor batch should pick them up and send it out (the one which you have manually triggered).

Check if there are any e-mails in that queue with a Failed status. My guess would be that the user account who is running the batch, or your account does not have the e-mail address set in their User options, which would be populated in the From: field for the mail header. If that is missing, some mail servers might reject sending out the e-mail.

    Hi Vilmos,

Thank you so much for your help.

Appreciate for the highlighted information. Everything was perfect in my situation. I simply deleted the alerts and created the alerts again with the same settings.

I am not sure what went wrong, but after I created the alerts again, everything is working as expected!

Thank you so much for your help.

However, I am digging in to incorporate the userd-Id of the user who made the change, in the email message that will be sent to the receiver.

(Example, the user-id of the user who will change the vendor group or customer group, ... , etc)

Would appreciate if you can through some light if this can be done as a part of some setting rather than customization, as I think for this we need to make code changes.

    Sincerely,

    Muneeb
