"time out has expired or operation has not been completed" error

Hello All,

When I am trying to start NAV server I am getting below error :

Server Instance 'MicrosoftDynamicsNavServer$DyanamicsNAV70' failed to reach status 'Running' on this server due to following error: 'Time out has expired or operation has not been completed.'. Additional information may be in the event log of the server.

Please let me know what is wrong?

The reasons for this error could be many, it may be permission issue for the user which is running the service or the same port has been used for other service, SPN Issue.. . As Mohana mentioned try to check the event log and if you can't figure out the reason paste the event viewer error and hopefully we can figure out the issue.

If you have installed a virus guard then disable it and check. It might be the case.

As mohana and suresh said please do check the event log.

Hello All,

Thanks for your response!!

I am able to resolve the issue after checking Event viewer logs.

But now I am facing another hurdle.

Right now my setup is working fine with NTLM authentication settings but now I want to set Kerberos authentication in my server.

I read in some of NAV forum that Kerberos is the default authentication but If I turn off NTLM setting I am getting unauthorized error on SOAP UI.

Error in detail:

HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized

Content-Length: 0

Server: Microsoft-HTTPAPI/2.0

WWW-Authenticate: Negotiate

Date: Mon, 23 Feb 2015 09:30:25 GMT

I have changed the provider in IIS to Kerberos and try again but getting same above error.

Please let me know what I have missed or how can I do this setup?
