Difference between Team absence calendar and Manager absence calendar in ESS/MSS

Dear All,

Can you please let me know the difference between the " Team absence calendar"  and "Manager absence calendar" in ESS/MSS.

The manager would like to see the leave details of his team along with his leave details on the same calendar screen.

According to me the "Team absence calendar "   under ESS => Summary should support. But the manager does not see the details under this tab, but he is able to see the details under the "Manager absence calendar"  excluding himself.

Can you please through some light, so that the manager can see his team along with himself the leave details in one calendar?

with regards

Mukharjee

    Hi Mukharjee,

Can you share a screenshot as I'm not able to see the team nor a manager absence calendar in my environment.

    Hi Andre,

I think the feature "Leave and absence calendar" needs to be enabled for the options to be enabled in the ESS and MSS of a manager

    Hi Mukharjee,

Found this feature and I have enabled it. I couldn't get quickly some meaningful data, so checked for some documentation.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../hr-employee-self-service-calendar

It is mentioning that the team absence calendar also have options to view pending requests.

    Hi Mukharjee,

    Please find the details below:

Let's say Harry and Ronald are employees reporting to Minerva.

Minerva and Snape are reporting to Albus

    Team absence calendar:

When Harry opens team absence calendar, he can see all employees reporting to Minerva - basically all employees in his team which is harry and ron

When Minerva opens team absence calendar, she can see Minerva and Snape

    Manager absence calendar:

When Minerva opens manager absence calendar - she can see all employees reporting to her - which is harry and ron

When Albus opens manager absence calendar - he can see all employees reporting to him - which is minerva and snape

Let me know if this answers your question.

    Hi Kamal Radhakrishniah,

Thank you for your reply. it is correct technically.

I understood the behavior of both the options. But i  can clearly say with my experience that it should not be the way it is.

Team means it includes the manager too. so the provision should be that the manager and the team members absence details needs to be together so that it gives a clear picture if the manger can approve the leave request.

Second point:  At a higher level, the HR manager, the sales manager, the finance manager etc will be reporting to the same person like CEO, in that scenario it is not required to know who is on leave in a complete different department.

    with regards

    Mukharjee

    Hi Mukharjee,

Cool we are aligned on the current functionality.

I think adding manager in the team absence calendar is a good. I agree with that one - We can log a idea for this on the ideas portal.

    experience.dynamics.com/.../

Regarding your second point: The data on calendar is secured based on position hierarchy so the restriction of data based on departments is not possible at the moment (I think this is part of the future roadmap). Buttt.. the Manager absence calendar has the capability to filter data based on departments

If you think this answers all your questions - Please mark the answer as verified.
