installing ax 2012 R3 with SQL SERVER 2016

Hi Experts,

For the first time, i am facing this requirement in our company we have backup of AX SQl server 2014 and now we don't have 2014 SQL Server setup, so i started installing 2016 SQL SERVER which i have right now. I can restore SQL SERVER 2014 ax backup on installed SQL SERVER 2016 but will it work?? please guide me.

I'm not sure which Dynamics AX version you are using, but you should be able to restore a database backup of SQL Server 2014 as Dynamics AX supports SQL Server 2016 as described here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11094

Hi Shabir,

It will work fine. I have done the same thing before.

You can take the SQL 2014 backup and restore without any issues on SQL 2016.
