Ribbon Workbench for CRM2013: What should we call it?

As we all should know, the Ribbon is being removed in Dynamics CRM2011 and replaced with the 'Command Bar':

http://community.dynamics.com/crm/b/develop1/archive/2013/07/03/evolution-of-the-dynamics-crm-toolbar.aspx

However, the Command Bar is still customised using RibbonDiffXml and the Ribbon is still there on a few system forms and in the current version of Microsoft Outlook's list views.

So the question is...What should we call the Tool?

Personally - I'm leaning towards sticking with Ribbon Workbench.
Have your say!

Command Bar Workbench doesn't really roll off the tongue like Ribbon Workbench does :)

Seeing as the RibbonDiffXml is still intact and the Ribbon appears in the majority of the non-end user entities, yet the nomenclature for the front-end UX is called the Command Bar (which is how we'll refer to it when talking to our customers, we should have a 3rd option called the "Rimmand Bar".

Since both presentation forms are included in CRM 2013, I would also include both variants in your tool and would give it a neutral name like "Menu Workbench for Dynamics CRM 2013".

Thank you to those of you that voted on this – it was almost equal between the two, so I've decided to stick with Ribbon Workbench for the following reasons:

    1. The Command Bar in CRM 2013 is still defined with RibbonXml, but rendered differently. A DisplayRule is used to exclude buttons from the CommandBar.
    2. The Ribbon is still present on non-refresh entities and in Outlook so it’s important to still have support for Ribbon editing.
    3. Since the Ribbon Xml remains unchanged, it’s important to understand and differentiate between Tabs/Groups and Layouts.
    4. The Ribbon Workbench is already an established ‘brand’ than people know about.

So until we have CommandBar Xml in a future version of Dynamics CRM – it’ll always be the Ribbon ‘XML’ Workbench with a *silent* ‘XML’!

The Ribbon Workbench for Dynamics CRM 2013 beta will be available for download very soon:

    • Dynamic switching between the Command Bar and Ribbon view
    • UI refreshed to match Dynamics CRM 2013
    • Performance Optimisations
    • Support for new Dynamics CRM 2013 schema

    Cheers,

    Scott
