Hi All,

When you reverse/Waive/ or Reinstate an interest note does it posted in the  g/l  in the current month you posted  ir or does it posted in previous months. For example I tested  waive, reinstate and reverse interest note and I reviewed the GL to make sure the interest was correct and the date was  the date of the interest invoice

    Hi,

It should be the same date the interest was originally posed.

Can you double check and test this in a demo/test environment and confirm that behavior in your system?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig,

My questions is if I create interest note in May and waive/ reinstate / reverse  it in June would D365 post the transaction  in June or May ?

    Hi Sylvia,

Thank you for using Dynamics 365 Finance Communities.

Interest note Reversals will use the posting date of the Interest note.

In this example, if the Interest note was posted in 1/1/2020, then the reversal will be posted in 1/1/2020 as well similar to the example below:

Original Interest note posting date 1/1/2020

    pastedimage1588648649592v2.png

Reversal posting date is 1/1/2020 (NOTE: system date is 5/5/2020)

    pastedimage1588648836890v3.png

The same applies even if you run the reversal process in a different period (system date).  The system will still use the original posting date of the Interest note for the reversal posting date.

In your example, if the Interest note was posted in May and the reversal is processed in June, the reversal date will still be in May as this is when the interest note was posted.

Hope this helps.  If your question has also been answered, please help mark the thread as answered.

    Hi Sylvia,

As Marian explained in detail, your note would be waived ... with a posting date May.

This necessitates that May is still open for generating postings.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi,

the problem is previous accounting period is closed.

i tried to reverse interest note.

system did not post any credit notes notifying that period is closed BUT when i generate new interest note i see that all previous interests are cancelled and system calculates again the interest on the previous period.

    how to handle that?

i still have all the previous interest invocies valid but new calculation is done like they were cancelled.
