Best practice in naming convention of Web Resources

Posted on by 185

Hi all,

I'm not sure if there's any standard or best practice we are following regarding best practice of naming conventions. Just wanted to check what are your common practices? I saw some put underscore (_), some put slash (\). Should the display name be the same as Display Name? For example for icons what should be the naming convention (e.g. {prefix}_/Icons/{entityname}.svg)?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

The Dynamics don't have some naming conventions.

You can name it for your convenience, as already commented.

You should always use the $webresource directive when referencing a web resource from a ribbon control or from a SiteMap sub area.

Keep it simple and readable for everyone. Experience from multiple projects.

    Sample:

    TypeOfWebResource/ProjectName/EntityName/Object

    Ex 1: JScript/LoanManagement/Opportunity/Opportunity.js

    Ex 2: HTML/LoanManagement/Account/ProductGrid.html
