Warehouse mgt Vs Stock mgt

Hi, we are struggling to understand which module is worth to implement : Warehouse mgt Vs Stock mgt.

It seems that the Warehouse management has a lot of features to use, but it is too complicated to set up and manage. Do you know how to picture the  main differences between the 2 about plus-minus, pros/cons, setting efforts/resources etc ?

Thanks

Ignoring the software - what do you need to do. List the functionality you require to support your business process (whether as-is or to-be) and then a reply would be easier. Otherwise you will get a list of functionality that you do not know if it applies to your business processes or not. Great functionality you never use is not great functionality for you!

    Agree!

    Here what I need :

    Workflows

    Wave picking

    Inventory control : cycle count

    Inventory blocking

    Cross docking put away

    Direct fulfillment

    Transfer orders

    Mobile devices

    Thanks!

That is a list of requirements that ONLY exists in Warehouse Management (WHS). Stock management has transfer orders but that is all, so if you implement just stock management you cannot have anything on the list except transfer orders. Easy decision!

    Thanks Steve!

    Just another question :

WHS is also linked to transportation management, right ?

So the risk of not implementing that is  to miss some of the Transportation management functionalities ?

Yes in reality, but also no. They are packaged together in many ways and seen as linked, but also you can use transportation management without WHS.

    Thank you Steve.

So we could implement some sites with WHS and some others without problems of "connection" between them ? (.e sending/receiving items, using the same item database etc. ?)

That is correct, some considerations around the setup but you can have warehouses with WHS and others without.
