Hi,
Is there a way that you can configure HR so that an employee can add a contact detail in their ESS, mark it as Private and not have it immediately disappear from their screen. I understand that I can go into Global Address Book Parameters and allow the Employee security role for example to be able to view private contacts and this will then prevent the contact details from disappearing from their screen once entered but this will then give all employees a view of these private contact details in the Company Directory.
Is there a way I can set the system up that allows the user to view their own contact details marked private but no others?
Thanks
Hi Mancini,
If the the user/worker relation is set correctly via the user details, the user should be able to see his own private details. I wrote a blog about this. It might help you for understanding. dynamicspedia.com/.../
So check the user/worker relations.
Thanks Andre for your response.
However, the users are all assigned to a Person, none of which have the System Admin security role. Only the HR Manager and HR Assistant Roles have been selected in the Global Address Book Parameters to have access to private details and yet when an employee adds a new contact in the ESS and marks it as Private, it disappears from their view.
I'm sure I have something set up incorrectly but can't see where...
There is an issue on the contact details part. I would recommend to log an incident for Microsoft Support.
As work-around, you can untick the private check box; then save the record. After that, you can re-enable the private check box. Then it is working.
Okay, thanks Andre. I'll log an incident with Microsoft and thanks for the work-around. That does the job :)
Many thanks again for your help
Microsoft have confirmed that this is a known issue and a fix will be included in the next update, (8.1.3737)
