Sales Picking with serial number scan in WMS Mobile device

Hi,

We had been doing the outbound process for a client and during the sales picking process we want to to do a serial number picking from a location.

We use tracking dimension - Batch and serial and in the reservation hierarchy has -batch/serial above location and the sales order is reserved on Sales order creation.

So this prompts the item to be picked based on reservation and it does not allow editing. We want to scanning a serial number to make a confirmation during the picking process.

How can a serial number field be made available on the Mobile device menu item - scan to be made mandatory/editable during the picking process?

Please share your feedback/suggestions.

I don't believe you can setup serial as a confirmation out of the box. If in the reservation hierarchy you put serial below location you will see the device ask for input on the serial number. Since your serial number is above location in the reservation hierarchy the user is only shown the serial number.

agree with Scott, no standard functionality can allow you scan serial number as the serial number is already determined during reservation.

Hi maharaja,

The only way this should be handled is to keep serial number below location.

That will keep serial number out of reservation and will be made available on the mobile device for scanning.

I would strongly suggest do not even try hands on customizing this scenario.

Hi Suman,

Thanks for your reply. But our business requirement is to use auto-reservation and later we need to validate that the correct serial number is picked in the WH.

Due to this we had to opt for customization.

I would use you suggestion incase reservation is not used in future.

If that is the case do not change anything in reservation related classes.

Just like standard option which allows worker to confirm batch number, extend the same logic for serial numbers. (Safest bet)

You could take a look at Piece picking. It could be configured to force the user to make a scan for every 'each' or one that they pick. Unfortunately, I don't think it will ask them to scan the serial number of every one.

Precisely we need to have serial validation in Warehouse so this might have a limitation.
