Requisition Workflow: how to inform originator that requisition stalled or not one approved/rejected it?

I'm trying to setup requisition workflow and I have a requirement that if the approver never approved the requisition after a specific period of time, the workflow should send the originator an email informing him that the PO now stalled and you need to take action. Can this be achieved via workflow setup?

Via the Workflow Maintenance window, when a task is overdue, you have the option to 'Take No Action', 'Escalate to next approver', 'Escalate to' or 'Automatically reject the overdue task'.

Depending on how you have that setup, as well as the rest of the workflow, would dictate your options in this example.

You could choose to reject the overdue task, then setup the 'Send notifications for completed actions' to send a email to the originator when the workflow is rejected.

There isn't any option that would directly email the originator when the workflow is overdue/not receiving action from the specified approvers within the allotted time.

    Thanks

    Thanks Derek,

I noticed that there isn't a way to do this from the workflow. I was going to use your idea as I noticed that the workflow is rejected if I choose so in the setup. I have a question that I was hoping you know the answer, is there anyway in the tables that I can determine if the workflow was rejected automatically by the system or was rejected by the user (the approver)? I noticed that WFI10002 will have Workflow_Status=7 when this happens but wasn't sure if there is a way to distinguish between when this was done by the system vs by a user (approver).

Thanks so much for your help!

Yeah, I'm not really seeing it in any of the WFI tables, that makes it clear which user rejected the workflow or if the system did.

Your best bet may be the Workflow History table, WF30100, as it'll show a Workflow_Action of 5 for rejected workflows and then have the Workflow_History_User name listed.

My thoughts are that if the SYSTEM rejects the workflow due to the allotted time being overdue, it won't have a name in that Workflow_History_User field/column.

I haven't tested to confirm this for sure.
