General Journal - Adding template to Open line in Excel

Hello:

I have a custom Excel template I am looking to make available with the General journals form, specifically within the Open lines in Excel dropdown. This new template is a modification (adding a few additional fields) of an existing template, but I do not want to replace the existing template. I haven't had any success uploading it through Document templates. I understand this may require X++ code?

Thanks

You most likely need to make a customization for it,
I wrote a blog post about how to do it with inventory journals some time ago, but it should work the same as with general journals: https://melgaard.nu/missing-excel-templates-in-inventory-journals/

Yes, you're right. To add a custom Excel template to the "Open lines in Excel" dropdown in Dynamics 365 Finance, this can indeed require some X++ customization

    Thanks

Through document template , you might need to select the legal entity while upload and keep the name same as data entity name which you would exported. This can show both standard and new one

    Hi Jonas,
I'm not sure your solution is what I'm looking for.
So I tracked down the current template looks to be tied to an AOT Resource (LedgerJournalLineEntryTemplate). It also appears whoever worked on this template last just overrode the template on the frontend using the same template name. What I want is to create a new instance so I can link it to my modified Excel template. Any thoughts?

    Hi all,
I found the link below which seems to be what I was looking for. Still working out a couple of issues, mostly tied to my dev environment. Hopefully, it works for anyone with same/similar issues.
