Resco Woodford pricing

Is this still a separate charge?

I thought I read somewhere that there was no longer a fee or Microsoft had a free app.

Is there 2 apps?  Very confused.

    There is no (and has never been) a charge for Woodford or the app. If your user either has a "Customer Engagement Plan" or "Field Service App" license, they are entitled to use the FS Mobile app on all platforms, Woodford is included. Resco has their own app, which need to be licensed from them. For setup instructions see docs.microsoft.com/.../field-service-mobile-app-user-guide

    Yes these are the instructions i followed.  

    I was attempting to enable location tracking, which I assumed was a standard part of most mobile apps.

    I ended up emailing them to ask and this is the response I got.

    Thank you for reaching out to Resco. The Mobile Client license offered as part of Dynamics Field Service is a limited Resco license. Resco provides Microsoft’s customers both with the underlying mobile app technology, and with the Woodford configuration tool. The message you’ve received indicates that the functionality in question is outside of what this limited license covers.

    So there is a yearly fee which is definitely not cheap

    Not true. If location tracking refers to being able to see the current location of your mobile workers, this is a standard functionality in FS Mobile. There are 2 options: #1 - Track worker while the app is running. #2 - Track worker using a background service even if the app is not running.

    #2 works slightly different in the FS App vs. the Resco App b/c from a security POV we do not send location data to Resco's server (that's what the Resco app does).

    What have you tried to enable location tracking? This should be activated by default in the FS Woodford project.

    When I enabled location tracking this is the message I got

    Location Tracking is part of Resco Routes, which is a separate product with its own respective license.

    If you are not sure if this organization has the appropriate license, please contact your account manager at Resco or email us at sales@resco.net.

    so I contacted them.

    And was told this functionality was USD 7,200 for a team of up to five users, while each individual mobile user is covered by an annual fee of USD 216 .

    I found several articles that showed the same way and none of them suggested a cost.

    And that cost is way more then we pay for field services, so definitely not an option

    I definitely like your response way better.

    Do you happen to have a link on how to do this?

    I would not worry about that message.  If you follow the directions on how to setup Location Tracking for Field Service, it will work just fine.  There is no separate charge you need to worry about.  This is a standard message from Resco for customers that use Resco / Woodford and do not have Field Service.  I hope that helps.
