Issue uninstalling Visual Studio tools.

Hi All. I'm struggling with an issue relating to the AX visual studio tools.

We have uninstalled and re-installed Visual Studio after installing the AX visual studio tools due to some errors on the setup. Unfortunately we can no longer uninstall and reinstall this component in order for it to take effect on our new Visual Studio setup. I recieve the following message when uninstalling via AX setup:

Product: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Components (64 bit) -- Error 1721. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action: ReportingTools.Uninstall, location: E:\, command: "devenv.exe" /setup /log "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Setup\ReportingTools_DevEnv_UnInstallLog.txt"

Has anybody come across something like this, or know how to manually remove the tools, or fool AX installer into thinking that its been uninstalled so I can reinstall it properly.

    Hello :)

I stumbled to the same issue while updating into CU9. I did uninstall all the "visual" programs and voila,

    1) From R3 installation files I uninstalled Visual Studio Tools (2010) at last, then

    2) I installed Visual Studio 2013 (Pro) and

    3) from CU9 installation files I installed the new Visual Studio Tools 2013.

    Regards

    Hi.

I was eventually able to resolve this issue. There seems to have been a conflict between multiple versions of visual studio installed on the system. After uninstalling all versions and components of Visual studio manually via Programs and Features. I was successfully able to uninstall the Reporting services components, then reinstall Visual Studio and the components correctly

    Hi Faisal,

My version of VS required that anyway.

A stupid but Microsoft slogan to resolve such issues - Did you restart your machine after uninstalling it?
