Hololens 2 Microphone Audio Breaking Up

We have a few Trimble XR10's with HoloLens 2 that we're setting up to use for Dynamics 365 Remote Assist. In initial testing though, I've had a terrible time getting solid audio from any of the HoloLenses. In a Remote Assist call, the audio from the person wearing the headset cuts in and out. So some sentences may come across clearly, some may get cut up and only a couple words are heard, and sometimes it doesn't pick up any sound at all while speaking for a few sentences. I'm testing in a quiet environment with no background noise, and the audio is completely unreliable on all the headsets I've tested.

The microphones themselves seem to work great. When I record a video using the video recorder in the start menu on the HoloLens, the audio in the recording is crisp and clear with no breaks. I can even record a video using the start menu while I'm in a Remote Assist call and the audio will be breaking up at the other end of the call throughout but the internal recording sounds perfect. The voice commands also work very well along with dictation. If I record a video using the record function of Remote Assist though, the audio breaks up just like it does in a call. So it seems to be specific to Remote Assist and not an issue with the microphones themselves. I also have (as of today) the most current OS on the device and the most current version of Remote Assist.

Has anyone else experienced something like this and is there any resolution? There don't seem to be any settings in Remote Assist specific to the microphone and the only settings in the main settings that relate to the microphone are the privacy settings which are all set to allow its use.

Hi DJ2ARON, were you able to resolve the audio issues? If not, I would open a support ticket especially if this is still blocking:

It can also help to submit a bug report through the Feedback Hub app on HoloLens using these instructions:

This process will collect additional telemetry that will help the RA engineers diagnose the issue. Let me know if you have any issues opening a ticket or submitting a bug report.

    Hi DJ2ARON,

From the description it does not sound like a device issue but could potentially be a network quality issue.

Recording through remote assist will send the video stream to Microsoft Stream (using the network) and replicates the issue.

But local recording does not replicate the issue, this seems to point towards network connectivity as a possible culprit.

Can you try, or have you tried starting up a call with this device on a different WiFi network?

You can possibly connect it to a cell phone hotspot and see if the audio issue goes away during a call?
