GP2013: Business Portal and Web Client

(0) ShareShare

Hi,

Does someone have Business Portal (or at least sharepoint foundation) and the GP2013 web client running on the same server ?

I have the GP2013 installed and functionning properly but as soon as I install Sharepoint foundation, my web client stopped working..

The first thing that came throught my mind is that they may not be able to coexist on the same IIS..  And maybe it is not even a good idea to have those 2 services running on the same server..

Here's our specs

2 servers.. Both windows 2008R2 and SQL2008R2.  One server for the GP database, the other one running IIS and webclient and business portal

We do not have many users (12) and not using too many modules in GP.

    Zaza,

Are you attempting to have them both run on the same website or port?  If you are, that will cause problems.  At a minimum, they will require different IIS websites and ports.

    Thanks

    Rob

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

As soon as I install the Sharepoint Foundation prerequisite, the GP2013 web client no longer works.  It seems to be a configuration change done on the IIS when the prerequisite are installed.

PS.. I've installed the webClient on the default ports..

This is the error message I get trying to access the webclient after installing the sharepoint prerequisite

For our demonstration systems, we are running GP2013 (with SQL Server),Business Portal & GP Web Client on a single server. Business Portal and the Web Client cannot use the same hostname - and are installed as separate web applications.

    Hi Olly Laos,

Thank you for sharing this information.. How do you install them in a separate web application and on a different hostname?

You could start by looking on google for instructions on how to add a host name to your DNS server. Assuming you are using a windows machine, you could start here technet.microsoft.com/.../cc779029(v=ws.10).aspx

Then you need to look up how to bind a web application to a particular hostname in IIS www.iis.net/.../binding

The following also has some general theory blogs.technet.com/.../understanding-iis-bindings-websites-virtual-directories-and-lastly-application-pools.aspx
