HI all,

GeneralLedger\Journals\General journal

Is there is a possibility to post a transaction General journal voucher with preferred posting type?

System in default considering posting type of "Ledger journal".

For example: there are 2 lines for a single Journal with two ledger accounts, both lines are balancing with amount.

Now i need a Financial voucher

1stLine: AmountDeb, posting type: A //not "Ledger journal".

2ndLine: AmountCred, posting type: B //not "Ledger journal".

    Hello Krishna,

Modifying the posting type the way you need is not possible the way you describe.

What is the underlying reason for this requirement?

To me it looks as if an additional financial dimension can be used but it would be great knowing more about the background of your question.

    Many thanks,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ludwig Reinhard,

    Business process

    As per the client,

They collect Item from the customer & will post the Amount, Qty to effect financial, Ledger transactions.

1.There won't be any Sales order reference for the transaction.

2.They don't want to consider the customer as vendor, as we may achieve this by Purchase order.

    3. Don't need  design like Sales or purchase order form , which have more fields.

4.They need similar accounting posting of Purchase order.

    Work around: To achieve this

    1. Have done some customization in Inventory movement journal , which is using for

       Qty posting in Inventory transactions.

    2. While posting Inventory movement journal, automating posting a General journal voucher through x++ ( considering all the accounts which hit in Purchase) for effecting financial transactions.

    Queries:

We've done as above steps, we have few queries.

    1. Posting type in General journal Voucher shows "Ledger journal".

We are trying to figure out, if  there is any  default functionality in AX  which provides

      our custom posting type?

    2. Is there any bad consequences in AX doing this way? (eg: probably AX considering

'Posting type'  for getting data in forms or reports)

I'd be extremely thankful to , If someone could share suggestions.

    Hi Krishna,

I would recommend that you follow the standard return order process even if it might look cumbersome and complicated for your customer at this moment. Otherwise, you might get into difficulties later on when it comes to inventory valuation, forecasting and planning stock Levels, purchases, etc.

Example: What costing principle do you follow for inventory valuation (fifo, lifo, etc.)? If you follow a principle other than standard costing, how can you ensure that there is no difference in the price/cost posted when the items where shipped and when they were returned?

The workaround you use might also result in complexities when it comes to the accounting side, as you have to ensure that things do not get posted more than once. I believe there are so many hidden traps that can result in big difficulties later on.

Why don't you try modifying the standard return order process in a way to make it easier to handle / user friendly if the standard functionalities do not meet all your expectations?

Let's please wait for some feedback of other community members how they assess this process and what they recommend.

Many thanks and all the best,

    Ludwig
