Editing Opportunity Close Activities

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Is there any way of editing or updating Opportunity Close Activities?

Basically we want to bulk "Lose" a large number of Opportunities but want to have the same "Description" against all of their related Opportunity Close Activities.

I can't seem to be able to update this using a workflow when closing the Opportunity and then can't update the related Opportunity Close Activities afterwards as they are closed/locked.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Olly

    Hi Francesco,

Thanks for your quick response. In the end I used the solution Alex proposed (below) as I didn't realise that option actually already existed.

I can see how your method would work also though.

    Thanks,

    Olly

    Hi,

As suggested by Alex above, yiu can use the OOB Perform Action >> Close Opportunity step. With this you can set all the fiwlds od Opportunity Close entity including Description.

    Hi,

there is an out-of-the-box custom action you can use to create opportunity close activities:

    - Create a workflow on the opportunity entity

    - Add a step

    - Choose Perform Action -> Close Opportunity (will be somewhat down.. close to the bottom in the list of actions)

    - Set the properties of that step

    - Activate the workflow(as on-demand), and run it for all those opportunities

    Hi Olly,

    you need to:

    1) Create a **real-time** workflow over Task entity, change where Records change status, with "Start when" option = "Before"

    2) Steps:

Check if task regards an opportunity

    Check if status is closed

    Set Description = Opportunity Description

    Please let me know.
