I work for a non-profit school and we just hired a donation developer to help raise money for our school. We currently use Dynamics 365 with our K-12 school. We want to use the fundraising app, but I am wondering what the best practice is when you have a separate business type. Our donors will rarely be the same as our families, should we put that app in the same environment? There will be sensitive information in this app so we don't want to jeopardize the security of our data. If we load it into a separate environment will that eat up all of our memory and cause us to run out of space? Any help with best practices would be greatly appreciated.

Two different business types

It is not clear why you would want to separate your environments - and if it is even wise to separate. When you separate CRM environments (using business units or separate orgs) it creates challenges in data maintenance, reporting and users have to log into separate instances. I'm not sure what you mean by business types, but it could just be a custom field on your form. Security is always a concern - but how does separating your CRM environments solve for that? It sounds like you need to work with an experienced CRM architect.
