Deliver Remainder

Hi guys.

I have a question regarding deliver remainder functionality in D365FO.
It is very time consuming and prone to mistakes to go through every line on the order, especially when you have more than 100 lines, and update them.
Have anyone had to build custom development in D365 or maybe power-apps? Any suggestion and/or help is appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Alex

Hi Alex, with Power Automate or data management, you can only manage the order quantity; not the remaining.

It would require a customization. Keep in mind that also a customization can cause errors.

Can you tell the reason why you are looking for the mass update on the delivery remainder?

    Hi Andre.

Thank you for reply. The reason we are looking into customization as it is very time consuming (and prone to mistakes) to go through each order line then click on the "Update Line/Deliver remainder" menu every time CSR needs to either cancel or short the item. Our orders sometimes exceed 200 lines and to sort through tiny Line Details grid is hard. Ideally, we are thinking to have a screen that lists order lines with:

    1. Order/Sales Qty textbox 2. Inventory Qty textbox 3. Cancel Qty checkbox

on the same line with an update button where CRS can update (or cancel by checking the Cancel Qty checkbox) what's required and then submit multiple rather than going one by one.

I hope I'm explaining this well.

    Thank you,

    Alex

    HI Alex,

I was hoping to hear the reason why you need to do so much cancellations. Out of the 200 lines, how many needs to be cancelled for the remainder? When you create a new form with a grid, how will the user manage the overview for 200 lines?

You can also do this during the sales invoice process. On the sales update form for posting the invoice, you can enable the 'Close' field on the Lines grid. Then the delivery remainder will also be set to zero.

    Andre.

Our CSR team complain about doing this function daily. Sometimes they have to cancel over many lines (over 50 at once). Sometimes due to product availability and sometimes due to different product version being available.  As well, each canceled/shorted line gets Reason Code that they put it to specify why cancelation/short happened. They wanted to see if the Excel could be used for this, as they do some order loading through Excel, but I told them that for Deliver Remainder Excel is not good.

I'm just thinking how to make it easier for them so things could be done in one screen. This would definitely be more efficient way. If order line grid could allow them to Cancel and Short the item and submit all lines for validation and update. Just an idea but I'm sure others dealt with this ask as well.

    Thanks,

    Alex

    Hi Alex,

If you extend the data entity for sales orders or create a new one, it would probably be possible to support the CSR team to do it via Excel. You can also create another form to support the process. Probably with these numbers, Excel might be easier. Anyway, it would require a customization.

    Hi Andre,

Do you think it is possible to accomplish this through Excel? Cancel specific order line and/or reduce quantity (through deliver remainder).

    Thank you.

    Hi Alex,

Only with a custom data entity, it would be possible to do it with Excel.
