Hi.
I want to assign a Resource to a Work Order, but without a date so the resource can schedule it themselves and create a booking. It's easy enough to create a custom field on teh WO to store the resource.
What I would like to do though is to use the inbuilt logic to present me with a list of engineers who match based on skills, territory and preferred engineer(not mandatory) like Quick schedule but without the time slots. Any suggestions?
Gabriel - Hi. Thanks for this. Using Ownership as you suggest would work. I am not certain how it will affect other users yet if I need to configure security for this. In the meantime I have come up with another variation of your solution which also works and has the advantage of using the scheduler to suggest suitable resources. I have set the default scheduled booking status for the scheduler to a new booking status of 'Assigned' and created a new Bookings view on mobile where the engineer can see the Assigend bookings which they need to change by correcting the date and setting the status to' Scheduled'. I think this makes it easy for the resource.

I have two suggestions:
- Assign (owner field) the work order to the technician, you can use the work order sub-status to categorize it too. From the mobile app, the technician will need to get those work orders from the schedule list and create a booking themselves. This approach does not let you see the resource availability because the booking is not created.
- Placeholder booking: From the agreement generation or from a work order scheduling. You can create a booking for the technician and use the priority 'trivial' to identify those 'floating' bookings. It gives the flexibility to your technician and scheduler to move those bookings when they need. You also can see the availability from it.
Gabriel - Hi
I tried this and realised that it of course uses up the available time and this doesn't fit the process well. The process is such that the office assigns each WO as it comes in to a technician who will then schedule it themselves into the appropriate slot they decide upon. This means the booking shouldn't consume available time. Also, to use fulfilment slots this needs to be stored against the Wo and comes again into play when the resource schedules themselves so gets in the way.
Are you able to think of anything else?
How about changing Owner of WO to resource, and then having a My Unscheduled WOs view where Owner = current user? Then resource can add booking to WO themselves as it fits their schedule.
Good suggestion, I hadn't thought of this and will give it a go. Thanks.
In order to create a booking, you will need to have a start and end time. You can ignore it if you want.
How about setting up a large fulfilment slot and enabling quick scheduling?
