Deleting Data with Data Management Tool

Hi all,

is there a way to use Data Management Framework to actually delete Data?

I tried to upload a empty Excel Sheet, hoping this would do the job, but it didn't. Do i have to hammer in to VS?

My specific scenario is in a testing System, where i want to delete all Product Category Assignments. Unfortunately  there is no

Dataset which i could use with Excel Data Connector.

thanks for any ideas.

ruben.

    Hi Ruben,

There is a setting to truncate data before the import, but I don't know if it will really delete records when the sheet only contains headers.

"Truncate entity data" truncates all existing data and imports the data that is in the file. In case file is empty, it doesn't truncate existing data.

Keep only one record in the file and choose option "Truncate entity data" during import. In this case, it will truncate all existing data and import only one record from file. Then just delete this one record manually from UI.

    Hello,

Sounds like you have been able to get "Truncate data" working? I am trying to delete existing data, ex Payment Terms. I export all data into CSV file, delete all the lines except for 1, then reimport the CSV file. I would expect if I import that all the data in the payment terms form would be deleted except only see that 1 line in my payment terms; however  nothing is happening.  Thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Kellen

A little trick If you add a line with an error e.g a reference field with an invalid value it will truncate the entity and fail to import the one row leaving nothing to cleanup via the UI

Are you selecting the trucate entity option?

I did the same try for customer master data using custCustomerV3Entity but it didn't work out (records are not deleted from the entity).
