Hi

i created a test environment 2 Virtual machines: a Server + SQL DB in the same machine (2008 R2), and a role tailored client + Dev environment in the 2nd one (win7), the instance in the server is running, but when i open MS Dynamics from the server it says "configuration file required {0}"  and the client cant connect to the server "the program could not create a connection to the server."  neither can i open a Database from the Dev enviromnent

    Hi,

I hope that you are trying to use the Windows Authentication mode for login from the client machines.  Are all the computers in the same domain?

The below link will guide you through the installation:-

    Best Regards,

Check the connectivity between Application Server to Client & Database Server to Client with ping command and also check the required port is being accessed with telnet commad.

Also please check the event log of client machine.

    Hi Fahes,

    - When you opened MS Dynamics from the server it said "configuration file required {0}": mean RTC is not installed on the server -> you can run setup again on server, add Client and Dev Environment components -> make sure all work fine on server.

    - You cannot open Database from the Dev enviromnent at Client: because you use SQL Express edition, so you have to start the SQL Server Browser service.
