AX 2012 BI Cube Error

Hi Folks, and thanks in advance,

We have deployed the 11 out-of-the-box AX 2012 cubes and are getting an error that we see in another forum from Dec 2012 to which no one has responded. Here is the error:

Errors and Warnings from Response
Server: The operation has been cancelled.
Internal error: The operation terminated unsuccessfully.
OLE DB error: OLE DB or ODBC error: Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type nvarchar.; 22003.

We get this error on the SQL SSAS 2008 R2 by selecting the GL cube and choosing ProcessAll.  Has anyone seen this specific error?  If not, and you have trouble shot SSAS for AX 2012, where would you suggest that we begin running down the source of each error?

Kind Regards,

Mark Simmerman

You will be able to see the failed statement in process log.

Ceck if you can run the statement directy under SSMS.

    Hi Mark,

    Try this :

    1. Go to SQL BI Development Studio, open the  Dynamics AX cube

    2. In solution explorer window, open the Data Source Views Dynamics AX

    3. Find CustTableCube, right click, select Edit Named Query

    4. Find out CAST(CREDITMAX AS NVARCHAR(24))  and change the VARCHAR(24) to be VARCHAR(30)

    5. Save all and re-process the cube

    Hope it will help.

    Regards,

    Andrew

    Hi Clay,

The challenge with OOTB cubes, is that they have to be maintained when important changes happen to data structures that they depend on (See Andrew's post above).  You have to find each of these gotchas and fix them if you have an old set of cubes if you want them to process correctly.  2-3 of our OOTB cubes processed fine since all their dependencies were reliable and intact.

We turned to Zap BI for our solution.  We let them absorb the AX BI learning curve for us and we just learn to use their tool to service our BI needs.  It also comes in handy when you want to combine data from different modules.  Try that with AX standard cubes.  It's a great experience if you have the desire and time to become a BI expert on SSAS.

    Kind Regards,

Thanks Mark, I appreciate the response.  I'll look into ZAP, sounds like a cool solution!
