Can't delete/overwrite merged cells. A range is partly merged with the another merged range..

Hi. I have a problem with printing an invoice in the production environment. The invoice is in Electronic Reporting and is based on an Excel file. For some time now, I’ve been getting the message "Can't delete/overwrite merged cells. A range is partly merged with another merged range.".

There were no issues with this before, everything was working correctly. In the test environment, where I imported the database from the production environment, the invoice printout works without any problems. Can anyone suggest what might be the cause?

I feel like I’ve tried everything. I even did a test with an empty Excel file to display just the document title. Unfortunately, I still keep receiving the above error.

Could it be a hang in the electronic reporting service? Is there a way to restart it? I have already cleared the cache and so on.

Thanks.

    Hi,
Ref to the error message there is an issue with range definition in your Excel template. Does it apply to all users?
Can check if there is any feature that is activated in UAT?
Do get any warning on format designer when you validate the configuration?

This applies to all users. The UAT environment is the same as PROD. All features have the same status. When deploying the Excel file, the message appears:

    Description:"@ElectronicReportingMapping:OverlappingExcelNamedRangesWarning", Path: "@ElectronicReportingCore:Format: @ElectronicReportingMapping:Root", Solution:"None".

Could you clarify the ER configuration you're working with? Is it a derived version of a standard setup, or a custom configuration?

Additionally, which environment are you testing it in (UAT, Production, etc.)?

To assist you better, please attach some screenshots that highlight the setup and any issues you're encountering. This will help us understand the context and provide more tailored guidance.

This is really odd... I think you are right in that there might be some artifact left behind that EPPlus picks up; Refresh of data to Sandbox points in this direction.
And it's not good since it's only in PROD. It's difficult to trace since most of the issues happens outside F&O.

If it's a new thing after a version upgrade, there is a flight you can try to have Microsoft Support enable, so it uses the legacy Excel runtime.
It's called "ERUseLegacyExcelWriterFlight". This you need to test in sandbox first.

There is also a couple of other things we could try to do:
If the note types are Sharepoint = Try to open the directory and remove the file manually.
If it's type file (AND YOU ARE NOT USING ER ACTIVELY IN PROD!), then you can try to change the document type.

It's a long time since I've had Excel simply refusing to work for me, but if I think of something I'll update the thread.

Additionally, and it might be asked previously in the thread: What if you make a new configuration?

When I create a new configuration and then assign it to a specific condition in print management, the error keeps occurring. I think I've tried everything. I don't know what else I can do...

I'm afraid that It's a something that Microsoft support needs to resolve.
The error message points to an issue with EPPlus, so the flight might work.

Faced the same issue as above

Mine was a derived one  - "Sales Invoice (Excel)"

Fixed by unmerging the cells above the row value from error message. Apply the template. Save
Merge the cells back and apply the template again
