How to perform data cleansing?

Hi,

I'm trying to understand data cleansing and data cleansing in the CRM context: can you please provide some examples of relevant scenarios with the main practical steps on how to perform data cleansing on Dynamics CRM on cloud?
Alternatively, some links to tutorials with steps and samples of code would be very helpful.
