Difference between Leave of absence requests and Time off requests

Hello everyone,

In Leave and absence, we have screens for 'Leave and absence requests' and 'Time off requests' as seen below

What is the functional difference between the two? What determines if something is a LoA request or a Time of request?

Leave of Absence is there to take accrual leave on day based. Time of request is to put a series of absence over a period, not directly linked to accrual of leave.

The scenario when you using Leave of Absence will be when HR puts in a period of absence due to long term sickness etc.

There will be made improvements on the Leave of Absence to support the sickness scenarios in upcoming months.

Thank you, Parag. When creating Leave types and plans, I don't see an option to have them be considered either 'time off' or 'leave of absence' (unless that is what Scheduled/Unscheduled is for). Some of the terms used in the Microsoft documentation is outdated as well, I don't see 'Request leave of absence' anywhere when going into 'Time off balances'.

It would be very helpful for customers to understand which type of leave gets fed where, and how.

    Hi Betty,

(Time Off is simplistically viewed as paid or unpaid, and the units (days or hours) passed to payroll to be calculated according to company rules.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../hr-employee-self-service-request-time-off

Leave of Absence is usually reserved for longer and/or planned absences for reasons such as Parentalleaves – typically, but not always, these would be unpaid.
