AX Single user mode

I am trying to apply a Kernel update (KB4570001) on a AX 2012 R3 CU11 single-computer environment, for practice.

How can I make the system run in single-user mode, and how can I turn it to normal again? Also, how can I determine whether it runs in single-user mode or not?

Thanks in advance,

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Yiannis,

You enter into single-user mode on the Microsoft Dynamics AX source system to make sure that the system is unavailable for business use. In single-user mode, only an upgrade user who has administrative permissions is connected.

Check this link for further informations: docs.microsoft.com/.../enter-into-single-user-mode

You are welcome, also remember if you close your client before you click the Accept new clients button, you cannot open a new client session unless you restart the AOS instance by using the Windows Services Management console, or unless you reset the SysServerSessions table in Microsoft SQL Server to a value of 1.

    Best regards

That is very useful to know, thanks again!

And I wonder about that in a multi AOS environment.

Logically, if at least one AOS accepts connections then I would expect login possible. Is this how it works?

    RE: AX Single user mode

In a production environment you install multiple AOS instances, each on a different server for load balancing and batch processing but they are all linked to the same database, you might also install multiple AOS instances in a development environment if you want to develop a solution for different versions of AX and you want to test it.

If all instances are linked to same databases (as the case of a production environment) , a user can still login if one instance go down.
