Using Default Location Inside a Movement Journal Line

Hi everybody,

My question is about setting up default location in the movement journal.

In the Warehouse items form of released products, I fill out the "default receipt location" and "default issue location" fields and it works properly in Sales order lines. In a sales order line, after entering the item number, the location field gets filled automatically.

But my problem is about the movement journal form. After entering the  item number in a movement journal line, the location field doesn't get filled automatically and the user must fill it manually which could lead to human mistakes.

I think it might need some coding, but since I'm new to this field, could anyone help me in this regard please?

Thanks in advance

A movement journal is a warehouse specific internal operation, moving something out of inventory, into inventory, or from one location to another.

In all 3 cases, the user creating the journal knows exactly which goods he's moving, including the location that they are on.

Which means that there's no point defaulting it based on the Warehouse Items rules

I agree with you. Since the user creating the journal knows exactly which goods he's moving, there's no need to use the default location in a movement journal line.

But, for ease of use and increasing speed, I've been asked to do so.

Is there any way to do this task?

    Thanks in advance

You can consider customization related to this.

as per my understanding customization complexity will be LOW

Please let me know if you need any technical support for this.

I think that the system will fill in the default receipt location from the Item's warehouse item record (or the warehouse) when you validate the journal. So actually you can leave the location blank and as long as the system can find a default location the journal will post.

Which version of AX you are using?

This works on standard AX in AX2012 R2 CU7 application. When a movement journal line is saved, system is defaulting the location from warehouse item setup.

    Thanks everybody.

Tim, you're right, After posting the journal it will automatically be added to the form.

    Regards
