HR Module: Positions and Employees?

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by
Hey,

As far as I know a position is assigned to an employee and a job must be created before a position. For example , there are 2 accountants. Therefore, one job must be created and 2 positions Acountant1 and accountant2 have to be created.

Why we can’t have the 2 employees or more assigned to one position (one position to more than one employee). Unable to do this, redundant data entry is required. (if 10 salesman, we have to define 10 positions??)

Am I missing anything?

No you are right. In the HRM module there is a 1:1 relationshipship between an employee and a position (= chair, = formation). One employee however can have more than one position. it is not always making sense. F.i. if you have 2 persons for 1 position, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, for person 1 and Thursday and Friday for person 2, you still have to create a second position for this second person. In Dynamics AX 2009 we also created employement to find the history of an employee. If you need more information, please send me a mail: Bert.stegeman@fourvisionhrplus.nl

    best regards,

    Hi guys,

I'm a starter in ax HR & payroll module. I don't have proper training manuals. Do you have any training manuals? If you have anything, please share it to the mail ID yunus_ahamed@live.com. It would be helpful for me.

Thank you in advance to help me out in this.

    Regards,

    Yunus

    Kareem,

You are correct - you've got it accurate. With each job, you must have a unique instance for an employee. There is a 1:Many relationship from a job to a position and a 1:1 relationship from a position to a employee.

To follow your example, you would have:

    > 1 Job - Salesman

    > 10 Different Positions - Salesman01 > Salesman10

    > 10 Different Employees

The reason...What you are essentially doing is configuring your organization with the positions and then staffing them when you hire a "Worker" (Employee) to one of your open positions. You are creating your organizational chart with the positions and how they are related to other positions. Not all positions need to be assigned all the time, so your organization can be configured...and showing staffing openings or positions for future growth.

I would recommend when you set up the positions that you make them available immediately (based on active date) so that when you need to use them they are active. I have seen folks but a future date in for a position, and then later have an issue with timing of the date such that it was not active yet.
