Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2
Version US Dynamics NAV 6.0 SP1 (6.00.33046)
In an unmodified database, CRONUS USA, I’ve set SILVER Location as;
Require Receive = True
Require Put-away = False
Bin Mandatory = True
I enter a purchase order with a Posting Date of 11/1/11. I create a Warehouse Receipt, with a posting date of 11/2/11. I post the Warehouse Receipt (in this case a partial receipt). Afterwards, I notice that Posting Date of my PO is changed automatically to 11/2/11. I also see that the resulting Item Ledger Entry is posted with a posting date of 11/2/11. Up to this point I agree with this behavior.
I realize later that product was also received on 11/1/11 that was not yet posted to NAV. I again create a Warehouse Receipt, this time with a Posting Date of 11/1/11. I post my receipt. This time, all records created from that event have a posting date of 11/2/11 except for the Posted Whse. Receipt (which is 11/1/11). Even the Item Ledger Entry has a Posting Date of 11/2/11.
Am I missing something? It appears that when posting partial receipts, one would need to first confirm the posting date on the purchase order before creating and posting a warehouse receipt? Am I missing something?

I could confirm that this is happen to Whse. Shipment side too, inspite of the Source Document:
Purchase Order, Transfer Order, Sales Return Order, Sales Order, Purch. Return Order.
I found a KB Article KB981707 "You obtain an incorrect posting date in item ledger entries if you post an inventory put-away by using a posting date before the work date in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0" that similar to problem in Whse. Receipt, but applied to Inventory Put-away.
Hence, I am sure that this is a bug.
Hi John,
I experience the same issue with you.
There is a condition saying that:
1. If Posting Date on Whse. Receipt is later than on Purch. Order, then change the Posting Date on Purch. Order, while
2. Else, keep the Posting Date on Purch. Order
In turn, the Posting Date on Purch. Order is used to create the Posting Date on Posted Purch. Receipt. While, Posting Date on Whse. Receipt, is simply transfered into Posted Wshe. Receipt.
I have tested it using Invt. Put-away, and Purchase Order, and no one behave like Whse. Receipt does.
I too do not know what is the reason behind, or if someone could confirm if this is a bug.
