Production Journals

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello,

I run into an issue when keying in production journals. In our industry, we have very large production orders. Sometimes when they are very large, Navision will not let me post them (it times me out).  If this occurs, all work is lost and I have to start over. I was thinking of switching over to Output or Consumption Journals.

What is the difference between a Production Journal Vs. Output/Consumption Journals?

Thanks for your help,

Pete

    Ideally, it should not happen...

However since Production Journal screen is generated run time (Temporary Basis), It might happen, when multiple people are working simultaneously and facing table locking or any other error, you might loose your work.

In such case, you can always go with Consumption & Output Journal screen. Here you should not face any such issue.

isn't there a way to extend the time NAV allows before erasing all of your work?

There is not such big difference between these twos.

Using Production Journal, you can post the complete production order (both consumption & output), via single screen.

Where as, in other case, you need to post Output Journal separately & Consumption Journal separately. This is bit time consuming V/s Production Journal, as you need to explode the order and then post the entries...

    Hope this helps.
