Create and activate a new Site/Warehouse

hi all,

hope to get some help from you guys!

using AX 2009 ERP module today.

We are trying now to also add the inventory management module also. To be able to receive/post items/services/products for the same company but in different site/warehouses.

I have managed to create sites and warehouses.

problem 1: when trying to post an journal we get an error message: "Site is inactive"

- how can I "activate the site"

- also, do we need to use the "warehouse management module" to get this working properly? note that we are not moving around goods physically this is only  in a virtual level to be able to move financial costs/income between sites and also receive in different sites.

    Hi,

What journal are you trying to post?

    Hi LandinMarcus,

When starting to work with Sites and warehouses, you need to create related inventory dimension groups and attach this to items. Did you have already items in the system before using the inventory module?

hi! there were already existing dimension groups and Items. I tried to post both on already exisiting items and also created an new Item with Item dimensions.

I haven't got any errors for the Items only that the Site is inactive.

Please go to Stock management/Parameters/Dimensions/Dimension groups and check if Site is Active for the relevant Dimension group.

OK! We have found out that MultiWarehouse function wasn't enabled yet. that's done now, so all sites are active!

But I still can't receive to different locations and/or sites/warehouses.

Any error message or any message at all?

yes. gor one error message. "the Item can't be recieved to the site because Item is linked to another site"

    - this is because when creating the purchase order; on line level I must specify witch site this should be linked to. and then when trying to receive the item and change to another site. I'm not allowed.

should the line level then instead be split between the different sites directly on the puchase order?

A site means a physical separation of buildings, mostly this can be a complete other city. Each site has its own demand. When you create an order, you have to use the correct site. Otherwise indeed split the lines per site.

If you use the registration process you can alter the site rather than in the receipt? It depends where you are setting it in the receive process. Although it is AX2009 so a long time ago now!
