Good day,
I have an item where the item type is Service with a quantity. I need to remove the quantity, but the above message comes up when I try an adjustment or transfer. From what I have read it appears the type was changed before the quantity was removed.
Nevertheless I am looking for some guidance as to how this can be done. The location is no longer in use, so I am trying to do some housekeeping.
Regards
Rosemary
Hi Rosemary,
We dont track quantities on service items, so if it was converted to be a service item from a Sales Inventory type, the recommendation is to make sure to reduce the quantity to zero before making the conversion. If you did not do so, you might need to revisit the steps that you took to make the change to service, and undo them, then reduce the quantity. These steps would be unsupported, because you would not have been able to change the item from being a sales inventory item to be anything other than discontinued from within GP.
Thank you for your response, we have item numbers that are basically labour where initially quantities were adjusted in for invoicing. The type was changed and unfortunately the existing quantities were not taken into consideration.
I have read a couple of threads on this and ideally the quantities should have been adjusted out and then make the change to Service as you also indicated.
As you suggested I will go backwards change it back, adjust quantity, and then put it back to Service. This particular item though is assigned to a site no longer in use. So after quantities are gone, I will be removing history in order to remove the site.
Thanks again for your input and confirmation.
