Most effective way of registering attendees at an event

Hello!

I was wondering what the most effective way of registering an attendee at an event is.

I know about the QR-code scanner in the mobile app, however, it seems very tedious to create a new check in every time you want to register someone's attendance.

Of course you could also scroll through the list of registrations and check each one off manually, but that also seems like a lot of work, especially if there are a lot of attendees, and you don't necessarily know the names of each one.

What I would like to do is send a QR-code as a ticket per email, and then have that scanned and instantly register a check in. I'm assuming that has to be done through a PowerApp.

Are there any ways of achieving a quick check-in with the out-of-box features that Dynamics provide?

Thank you for your extensive response with documentation and variations. Figured out and researched my way to the same conclusions, but it's always nice to ask if someone's done something similar or knows more than the average Joe.

    Hi Hagru,

    out-of-box features that Dynamics provide:

If the event is Teams webinar events, you can check-in it through email.

For on-site events, you can use the QR functionality.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/modules/promote-events-dynamics-365-marketing/6-check-in

For Teams webinar events, the check-in process is accomplished by sending registrants an email with the attendee URL. The Join in Teams button generates a unique attendee URL for each registrant. When the registrant selects the button, the Marketing app creates a relevant check-in record for them, giving insights about the Teams event attendance in Marketing. For more information, see Inviting registrants to attend the Teams event through email.

For non-Teams webinar events, the check-in process is usually accomplished through the integration with the webinar provider. When an attendee joins the webinar by selecting the attendee URL that was sent to them, a record is generated in the external platform, which is later synced back to Dynamics 365 Marketing.

For on-site events, you can use the QR functionality that the Events module includes for a seamless check-in experience for your attendees. After your guests have checked in, these records can be viewed within the event record. For more information, see Event registration QR code elements.

A Power Apps Canvas app can be created to achieve the above.

Power Apps Canvas Apps has a Bar Code Scanner Control, which scans QR codes too.
