Inventory Count Locking

Hi,

I made sure that the "Lock items during count" option is selected in Inventory Management > Setup > Inventory Management Parameters | General > Count. However, if I create a new count journal, items are not being locked in Products Information Management > Common > Released products | Manage Inventory > Warehouse > Warehouse Items | Default > Counting status > Counting started. Is there anything else I should check?

Thank you!

What are the dimensions activated in the warehouse item compared to the ones selected in the count?

Was the item manually created or migrated into the system?

Those dimensions were different. I specifically chose a different dimension on the count journal thinking it would create a new line on the Warehouse items form and would lock it. I have a few more follow up questions if you don't mind.

    >There's "ItemA" item inventory in warehouse 100, location 100-001. I increased "ItemA" inventory in warehouse 101, location 101-001 from 0 to 3 and so that total available is now 3. When I check Warehouse items form I don't see an entry for warehouse 101. When use Add products form in Journal lines and add "ItemA", AX generates only one entry for warehouse 100 in the selected products pane. Warehouse 101 has inventory but it's ignored. Should it pick-up all dimensions for a given product with inventories?

    >Is there a way to generate a count journal for all items in a specific location?

    Thank you

You would need to look at the code I am afraid, but if you have not created a warehouse item record it will not create one for you, I would imagine the add products looks at defaults or other settings in the journal, if you used the create function to create say on-hand then it would create multiple entries.

Your second point would be the create on hand with locations selected as a dimension and the filter set on the item.

    Hi D.,

If that item has a 'warehouse items' record with the same dimension as the counting journal has, 'Lock items during count' locks the item in that dimension.

If that item only has the default 'warehouse items' record, as long as there's open counting journal for that item, the item is locked for all dimensions.

In your case, seems you have a 'warehouse items' record with different dimension than your counting journal's dimention, so that dimension is not locked.

Check out this blog post for a better understanding,
