Hello everyone,

I am trying to install Ax 2012 R3 . According to the prerequisite I have installed MS Visual studio 13 (desktop version )but the setup is still not validating the visual studio error and it causing hindrance for the complete setup to take place though Client has been successfully installed but when I am trying to install developer tools then only this error comes . What version of visual studio to install ,please someone help me with this.

If I am not mistaking the 2012 R3 CU8 added support for VS 2013. If you are on R3 plain, then you have to use VS 2010.

Hello Karan!

Visual Studio Tools for AX2012 R3 can be installed using Cumulative Update 8. Are you using the CU8 package? Or even using it slepstreamed to your AX2012 R3 installation files?

Hello Iulian Cordobin ,

Thanks for your interest . I have installed AX R3 Cu8 , which requires VS 2013 only. Though i have installed VS 2013 (desktop version) but after re validating the requisites error for the VS is still not resolved. What to do next ?

Right, so you need the updates for VS as well (SP1). You have the Link button in the grid, you can use it to get it.

I have already installed the updates through the link button in the grid . It still stands unresolved after revalidating.

Openning the Error link gives you details about what you need?

Of course you need to use VS 2013 Professional or higher!

Update 4 for VS 2013 needs to be installed. We ran into this same situation.

It is strange but for me even after installing CU8 . The Ax 2012 setup gives error for Visual studio 2010. Can this be beacause I am using a trial version of Visual studio 2013 ??

Anoop, the description of your problem isn't the same as what's discussed in this thread. You also already created a new thread, so please continue with the discussion there. Nevertheless I see that you forgot to mention the detail about VS 2010 in your new thread - please pay attention to the information you provide, otherwise we're all (including yourself) wasting time.
