Hello,
I am trying to add a Workflow Participant Assignment Provider but I am unable to find it when trying to add a new item under Business Process and Workflow category. Thank you.
Duplicate the standard item & make modifications as required.

I am aware I can do that but that limits the naming option (it just appends "Copy" at the end of the item name) and it would be greyed out. Ideally I want to add it from scratch.

You can duplicate one standard participant provider and change the class name..

Thanks for the reference. I duplicated a previous participant provider and changed the class name. However, is there a way to change the name of the participant provider itself since it is greyed out when duplicated.
You can change the name of the participant provider from the project.
Right click on the participant provider from the project and click rename.
I tried that as well but got the below error.
Have you tried restarting the visual studio.
Restart visual studio and try renaming.
