Hello,

I am using AX2012 R3. I have turn on auto picking list.
Sales order opened with 1 item (1 line) with 10 quantity which do not select batch number and location. Next, I do picking list posting but it prompt me error that batch number and location must be selected.
What I think is this is not make sense where it might be 4 quantity is Batch A and another 6 quantity is Batch B. And it is not possible to insert 2 line with same item number in sales order.
Any configuration or setup missed?
Can someone please help?

    Hi Rebecca,

Can you indicate how the Tracking dimension group is setup? What tick boxes are enabled and disabled?

Are you using reservations? Please update, then we know more about some of your setup.

    Hi Andre,

Thanks for your reply. The item is tracked until location with batch turned on. And the location and batch is ticked in setup.

    Reservation is not turn on.

And I have turned on the warehouse management since is R3 version.

As per my understanding you need to enable auto reservation for this Item at sales line level

Which will reserve and assign batch no. to the sales line, which you will be able to see in Inventory Transaction view

now with this, it will be based on available stock in different batch no.

Please verify if this work for you

    Hi Nitesh,

Thanks for your reply. It's not work. Error below prompted.

"<Item> Inventory dimension Batch number is a primary input/output dimension and must consequently be specified."

For your info: Setup in reservation hierarchy is :>> Site, warehouse, inventory status, location, license plate and batch number

    Hi Rebecca,

Check if the tick box Primary is enabled on the Tracking dimension group for the dimension 'Batch number'. If so, disable this. Then you should be able to use multiple batch numbers on one sales line.

    Hi Andre,

I'm having the same scenario only that my problem is the "location field" is blank. I'm also using R3 and activated Warehouse & Transportation license configuration. Isn't it possible to automatically suggest a location during Picking List Registration?

    Thank you.

    Hi Bella,

Can you tell us a little more about your scenario? You have Warehouse management enabled. Do your items have a Storage Dimension Group on which 'Use warehouse management processes' is ticked?

Are you reserving inventory to the sales order before posting the Picking List, either automatically or manually?

If you get an error in your scenario, what exactly does it say?

    Hi Guy,

    Thank you for your reply.

    My Setup:

WMS enabled in Storage Dimension Group - Yes

    Reservation - Automatic

Picking Route Status (in AR Parameters) - Activated

In Picking List, there is no error but the field "Location" is blank in the PLR Lines, I have to manually select the Location before the Picking List can be updated/completed. Please see attached pic. Thank you.

This is normal behaviour for WHS enabled items. The new reservation functionality will not reserve inventory at Location level.

Is there a reason why you have enabled WHS on the items, but are not using WHS for picking?

    I see. Thank you Guy.

Our AX implementation is divided in phases. Phase 1 for Financials, T&L

    Phase 3 - WMS & Transportation.

so, during phase 1, we want the simplest way possible for inventory handling. We agreed using 1 location only for Incoming Items, do transfer manually to Picking Warehouse due to very voluminous transactions in Picking, segregation of Aisles & Pickers is a must in Phase 1. I'm afraid we have no choice but to implement WMS in Phase 1. :( In this case, for WMS, is the mobile integration a requirement?

    Thanks again.
