AX Rainier vs Enterprise Portal

Hi there,

We already know that the next major release of MS Dynamics AX is gonna be full HMTL5 oriented and that it seems it gonna get rid of its dependency to SharePoint EP.

But I have some questions about that move and if you know some answers/rumors/etc please feel free to let us know here.

So, first question: are they gonna get rid as well of all the functionnalities deployed by Ax Enterprise Portal? Or they will move it to the full HMTL5 UI ???

In the case of a "move to HTML5 UI", do you think the Rainier Upgrade is going to support customizations done in actual AX2012 for EP ?? (I tend to doubt that one!)

Why those questions? Well, there are at least like 20000 Dynamics AX customers in the world. Not all of them developes EP customizations, but I can bet there some of them doing so. And I'm telling myself it would be a huge step back if by upgrading to Rainier we all lose those provided functionalities and coded customizations, dont you think so?

Hi

As I know, Enterprise Portal will be deprecated in Rainier.

So, entire AX UI will be move on HTML5.

I don't think (I hope I'm wrong), MS will release any tool to move EP customizations to the new technology.

The same thing happened for the Morphx Reports upgrade to SSRS.

Regarding the functionality provided by Portal right now, I think they will be available in Rainer under a different implementation. Again, similar to the reporting engine example. Engine changed, same old reports. =)
