Greetings, our company hired an outside vendor to help us with implementation. We have been up an running with a few bumps for the past 3 months. We asked our vendor to create 2 smartlists for us. We then received a bill for 13.5 hours of work just to create these lists. Does this seem unreasonable to anyone else? I would like to know if it should take this long to create a smartlist. Thanks in advance for your advice and help.

Hi TeenyBean,
Are you referring to them creating a new Smartlist Object using Smartlist Builder?
If yes, then it is quite reasonable at some point (for 2 SLB objects). The extent of how long it does take is dependent on what functionality you want to happen on the smartlist object.
However, if it just for regular Smartlist (out-of-the-box Smartlist in GP) and they are just going to create a new object out of a regular one (called Favorites) - then I believe it unreasonable.
Please let me know if you have further questions.
Regards,
Tristan
Hi Teenybean,
How long it takes to create the SmartList depends heavily on the information you are wanting to display. How many tables are included, are the joins complicated, do you need to create any Unions, does a view need to be created, are you looking for summary information, how many 'go to' actions you have, etc. etc.
I have created SmartLists that have taken that long. The actual creation of the SmartList isn't that big of a deal, it's querying the database that can eat up the time.
Kind regards,
Leslie
