Our client is looking for a BI tool that can be integrated with GP, it can update GP's dashboard.

Mark Polino's Analytics for Microsoft Dynamics GP is absolutely a good start
I would recommend Solver's BI360. There is a direct integration to GP, or you can go beyond that and build a data warehouse with data from multiple systems. www.solverusa.com/products
BI360 is definitely a good option, but you should start by taking a look at Analysis Cubes for Excel. Here is a link to the KB on installation, and there are several good blog posts and videos online to explain their use.

I would recommend using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS). GP's standard metrics are developed using the Report Builder tool. GP metrics created in in SSRS can be easily added to the Homepage, mapped to specific windows, or displayed within the Business Analyzer component of the software for viewing outside of the GP system.
As Mike says if you want it to update the dashboard it needs to be SSRS. These reports will also be usable in the cross-platform Business Analyser app.
