Number Sequence Reference Table

Greetings:

I am a little confused over functioning of NumberSequenceReference table. The basic concern is that since this table does NOT allow users (even admins) to enter any data, how does this table get setup initially (I couldn't write any new records to this)? And do users (or even admins for that matter) have any control on modifying its content through AOT (I couldn't edit the contents through 'Basic > Setup > Number sequences > References' form). Any relevant comments or ideas will greatly help in moving forward. Thank you.

Regards,

Manish

    Hi

To my knowledge reference cant be altered by us , they are set according to processes req like if you want packing slips to folow your PO , for such scenario they are pre enabled for processes which requires such options.

    Hi Manish,

This Can be done only through coding. In the Class you could able to find too many Classes starting as "NumberSeqReference_" and each type of these classes will have an method Called "Load Module". You need to alter in that method to get the data in Number Sequence Reference Form. For example if you need to do it in AR Module, then the load module function in the "NumberSeqReference_Customer" class needs to be modified.

Just try out and reply with the feedback

    Hi Ananda and Spot,

Thank you so much for your valuable thoughts and inputs. I too learned that it will probably require a coding and I wanted to do away from coding and thus decided to work with parameters form (within each respective module). I realized that all the sequences that are referenced within NumberSequenceReference are also scattered around each module and are accessible through parameters. But I wanted to write SQL script to automate this and am learning that parameters form in turn is pulling data from NumberSequenceReference table only! So, I guess I will have to work at the DB level to achieve this for DAX AOT won't let me modify NumberSequenceReference table. I will surely post the process/solution that I end up with. Thank you once again and have a wonderful day ahead.

    Sincerely,

    Manish

    Hi Ananda and Spot,

I think I have 2 key points to share with you both -

    1. Up until last afternoon, I wasn't able to change any data in NumberSequenceReference form (in DAX Demo environment), but I surprisingly can do the changes (alter number sequence for particular functionality) through that form now (without making any changes - literally!).

    2. I thought I could get into each specific module and add number sequences for a particular functionality through parameters form only to be fooled while trying to do so - This potentially implies that I have to go back to Ananda's suggestion of looking into code. This will be my next step.

Will keep you both posted, meanwhile, if you have any thoughts/comments, please share.

    Sincerely,

    Manish
