Speed up Reports

Hello All,

we are using AX 2012 R3 CU13, with SSRS Reporting.

we have a large amount of transactions everyday, which leads to a large database size ( around 1 TB)

the issue is that now most of the reports are taking a very long time to process,

I already make the optimization for Dynamics AX 2012 and the SQL Server, but no improvement.

I think this is because the large amount of data.

so is it possible to divide the older data from 2 years ago or so.!?

this might speed up the reports.

any ideas??

I have the same question (0)

There is IDMF framework available cloudblogs.microsoft.com/.../

It allows you to archive old data, however, it's not that straight forward so may require some time to implement.

    Hello w.sallam1,

What kind of reports do you refer to?

Do you have some examples of those reports and how they are run, i.e. what periods, filters, selections are made?

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    thanks ievgen  for your reply,

as the link you gave this is for tales only?

and will it make the performance better and faster reporting?

    thanks Ludwig for your reply,

almost most of our reports are getting slower,

even like printing a normal PO.. etc.

some reports on ledgers have filters and so,

If you reduce table size all queries against it will became faster for sure, including reporting. But you asked very generic question and answer could be only high-level as well. You can use IDMF to reduce DB size, also you need to check that you have maintenance plan to update index statistics and fragmentation. Maybe your SQL doesn't couple with the load and need more resources, it's hard to tell.

    Hello w.sallam1,

Have you checked the ievgen's suggestion and feedback?
If you have questions how to use IDMF, I would suggest to create an incident for Microsoft Support.

thanks a lot for your reply,

I think i will do more searching about IDMF, i will try it on test environment before deciding to implement it.
