WORKFLOW PROCESS FOR INVENTORY SAMPLES

LOOKING FOR HOW TO INFORMATION ON CREATING ITEM CARDS IN NAV FOR SAMPLE INVENTORY THAT WILL BE BOUGHT AND SOLD FOR NO COST.

THESE CARDS/TRANSACTIONS WILL BE FOR TRACKING ONLY. I DO NOT WANT THEM TO IMPACT COST ETC ETC

    Hi EVITAL,

    Typically, I would recommend using an Item Number Series that keeps these Items out of the typical Item Number so you can filter these out.  You can even set these up with Standard Costing and a Standard Cost of 0.00 to prevent the inventory from having a value when they are brought into NAV.  Other scenarios similar may also involve the use of a separate Location Code, especially if the same Item may have inventory where cost is tracked and stored. So, the inventory needs to be differentiated and tracked with zero cost in the "SAMPLE" Location, yet it is the same Item and Number as the regular inventoried item. You would then just want to make sure that you setup Inventory Setup to use By Item Location & Variant Costing and use Stockkeeping Unit functionality to enable the management of separate item cost by where it is located.

    might also want to F1 on the "Inventory Value Zero" check box on the item card.  See if that covers what you are looking for too.
