When I generate Physical Inventory Dimension report as on date it generate quickly but when I try to generate same for some historical date it did not complete in 8-10 hrs.
What could be the possible cause behind this? and hot to get through it?

we can not change Session date as that will impact other ongoing processes.
Keep session date and historical date as same and try again , Its not a long term solution but a work around. One of the reason for taking excessive time to caculate data is having mutiple batch running for the same report generation. extend the running interval time for the same batch .
As per my observations,
1) As on date - system already have the calculated values will fetch directly from tables without consuming time in calculation.(from Inventsum table)
2) For history date - it will do calculations considering historical data from inventory transaction table
