Thanks for sharing!
I've been looking everywhere for this information like crazy, thank you so much for sharing
Hi Antti,
We have a customer with D365 PSA deployed. They're now initiating a new deployment project now for an affiliate company, and thus would like to understand how they deploy the new one and migrate the old PSA to Project Operations.
Questions:
1. Since they have purchase license of Project Operations for their new users, does that interfere with their existing PSA license?
2. Once they have to migrate their existing PSA environment to Project Operations in the future, how about those customizations? Is there any document for them to follow?
Thank you.
Best,
Lorenz
Hi Lorenz Chan,
If they have purchased additional licenses specifically for Project Operations, they can continue to use PSA as long as they have a complying license for it. As to the upgrade. A PSA -> Project Operations upgrade can be done in the same environment in which PSA resides. It's essentially an upgrade of a PSA V3.x solution to Project Operations V4/5 or whatever the solution version will be at the time of upgrade.
I don't recommend a migration of PSA to a completely new environment with ProjOps. Instead, I'd use the tooling, when available, to upgrade PSA to ProjOps in the environment PSA is in.
thank you for the information. It's very hard to find info about this subject.
The upgrade form psa to project operations lite was planned early december for public preview. Any idea if this is still on track?
Kind regards,
Bjorn
I don't have the exact date the 1st phase comes out but it is around the corner. Things are progressing.
Edited original post with new information.
Hi Antti
We have been paying for three licenses of PSA for over a year while developing. Microsoft discontinued our PSA License.
I thought I would have been grandfathered in, allowing me only to acquire my few Project Operations licenses needed. Instead of the new minimum of 20.
Does anyone know a way around the 20 licenses min? Knowing I had a PSA license?
Best
MikeK
Hi Antti.
According to the link you posted, The target environment must be updated to Project Service Automation Update Release 38 (3.10.59.117) or later.
We are currently stuck on 3.10.0.31 and there is no way for us to upgrade.
Here is what I have on the environment.
Thanks in advance.
Last attempt before I bury this.
Has anyone been able to convert PSA to Project Operations with less than the 20 license min?
If yes, any suggestions on where I can direct my Microsoft support or who to contact?
Mike
