find location of a certain menu item

Hi,

what i miss in Dynamics AX is the possibility to search for a certain menu item.

So, I would be looking for a kind of tool where you can enter e.g. "customer" and this tool would return me a set of results with the paths of where in the menu this word occurs:

e.g.:

Customer -> Customer details

Anybody has ever made a tool like that? Or can anyone give me any pointers on how to develop something similar.

Thanks,

Sven

    Hey, you can go to menuitems node in the AOT, right click on it, and click search. This you can search the names within the Menuitem.

    This should get you what your looking for!

    No, this is not exactly what I am looking for.

    1) This cannot be used by someone who has no access to the AOT

    2) It doesn't show me the exact path, since part of a menu can be a menu reference refering to another menu.

    User SetUp form has the searching code logic... you may tailor it for your purpose.

    If I wanted to develop something like this, I would take a SysDictMenu class, iterate through all tree nodes (getEnumerator()) and apply a check (e.g. a regular expression) to each node (name() or label()).
