A multi national company has many entities located in different country (e.g. US , UK , France , Singapore , Thailand, China..Etc)
These entities are doing B2B business and some of their master data of customer, vendor and product are same.
Question : is that possible to create and maintain these master data in one single place instead of create them in each entity separately ? Once the data is created , user can choose which entity to assign the data record.
Master data management for Customer , Vendor and Product
Hy,
basically there are some options as well as limitation to work with shared data.
For Customer and Vendor is the same approach, for Products this differs as these can be be relaeased to each legal entity by Standard, which means a small part of the product is shared and the most fields of the released products are copied to other legal entity. Here seems someting will be changed in the future as it is announced Cross-company product sharing (preview) - Supply Chain Management | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn
Furthermore with "Copy to legal entity" it is possibke to initial copy and/or update individual legal entities with data from the Master data legal entity. Within that DMF project you can select target legal entity, the data entities and the fields you want to publish on recurring base.
Even it looks smart to share Customer, Vendors, products over legal entities this needs to be considered in depth whether this makes sense as many dependencies and exceptions can occur and my be are not seen beforehand.
Hope This helps.
