Mass edits / CSV edits / Batch uploads - how to ?

Hi!

Goal:
- Conduct mass edits across multiple sales orders, without having to do it manually or one by one.

Example:
- I have to manually update the unit price across 2000-3000 sales orders, which totals at over 20,000 single price updates that are currently being done manually in the sales line bulk update module.

Context:
- I am coming from NetSuite, where I can do a CSV upload with all the edits, upload it, and then the system will reflect the updates for me, in a faster and more efficient (non manual) way.

Is there anything similar to this? Or is there a different process, where I can reach the goal of not having to do this manually.

I have the same question (0)

Dynamics 365 also has features to
    1. Export data to excel, modify and then reimport
    2. Edit the data in excel online

Here is the reference how you can export and import the data for updates

    Here is another great reference.

There are definitely ways to achieve mass edits across multiple sales orders in Dynamics 365 CRM without manual intervention. While it might not be a direct CSV upload like you're used to in NetSuite, these approaches can help you achieve the same goal of efficiency and automation:

    1. Excel Online Integration:

    • Export to Excel Online: You can export the list of sales orders you need to modify to Excel Online directly from Dynamics 365.
    • Bulk Edits: Make the necessary changes (e.g., update unit prices) in the Excel sheet.
    • Publish Changes: Save the changes and publish them back to Dynamics 365, updating the sales orders in bulk.

    2. Data Import:

    • Prepare CSV File: Create a CSV file with the necessary information (e.g., sales order IDs and updated unit prices).
    • Data Import Wizard: Use the Data Import Wizard in Dynamics 365 to import your CSV file. The wizard will guide you through mapping the fields and updating the records.

    3. Power Automate (formerly Microsoft Flow):

    • Workflow Automation: Create a Power Automate flow to trigger updates based on specific criteria or events.
    • Custom Logic: Use conditions and actions within the flow to define the mass edits you want to perform.

    4. Custom Development (Plugins or Workflows):

    • Advanced Scenarios: If you have more complex requirements or need to automate very specific updates, consider developing custom plugins or workflows within Dynamics 365. This approach requires development expertise.

    Considerations:

    • Data Validation: Ensure your data is accurate and properly formatted before performing any bulk updates.
    • Testing: It's always recommended to test your bulk update process on a smaller set of records before applying it to the entire dataset.
    • System Performance: Large-scale updates can impact system performance. Consider scheduling them during off-peak hours.

    Recommendations:

    • For simple updates like changing unit prices across multiple sales orders, Excel Online integration or Data Import would be a good starting point.
    • If you need more flexibility and automation based on specific triggers or conditions, explore Power Automate.
    • For highly customized or complex scenarios, custom development might be necessary.

    Hi,

You can export your sales orders to Excel Online directly from Dynamics 365, make bulk updates such as changing unit prices, and then save and publish the changes back into Dynamics 365. Alternatively, you can prepare a CSV file with the updated sales order information and use the Data Import Wizard in Dynamics 365 to upload the file, which will guide you through the process of mapping fields and updating records.
If you need more automation, you can set up a flow in Power Automate to handle updates based on specific criteria or events.

    Hope this will help

    Hello User,

    Best way with customisation scope.

    1. Import - limited customisation.
    2. Power automated flow - more customisable but will take more time for updates.
    3. Custom C# job or a plugin - more customisable and takes minutes to run.

    Thank you,
    Amit Katariya
